Persuade: Mr. Payton, Welcome to the Persuade realm, Thank you all for the opportunity to be featured in Persuade.

Persuade: How long have you been modeling?

This will be my seventh year in the industry.

Persuade: How did you first begin modeling, being that it’s such a challenging industry to get into?



I was presented the opportunity while relocating from Atlanta GA, to Huntsville AL. Johnny Sledge of Radar Men Model Management offered me the opportunity to attend castings for different local shoots, plays, and fashion shows. I never thought I would be a model let along featured in Persuade Magazine (laughs)

Persuade: What is your inspiration for modeling?

Modeling gives me the opportunity to show my versatility.  I have always been an athlete, however I never thought modeling was hard work but it is and it really takes time to learn the business and grow at the same time all while being humble.

Persuade: How do you handle rejection from various designers or agencies?

Do you ever become discouraged? 
In the beginning yes, however I had to learn a valuable lesson and that is: When it comes to different castings you have to take the constructive criticism and learn from it. The key is to never wear your feelings on your shoulder or get offended easily because every job is different and each client is always looking for different styles, fashion, and looks.


Persuade: What’s next for Mr. Payton? 



Building my brand, working on photo shoots, print work, fashion shows and acting and growing with my fellow Radar Men.

Persuade: What are the advantages as well as challenges, if any, of being a model in today’s industry? 

Being able to network is a great advantage. One challenge is that this is a female driven industry so as a male model we have to work twice as hard to get the bigger jobs and to prove ourselves in the business.




Persuade: Who are some of the models in the industry that have inspired your work? 

One of my inspirations is Tyson Beckford, not only because he is a male model, but because he is a very successful AFRICAN AMERICAN male model. So that alone gives me motivation to believe that I also can be just as successful if I work hard.

Persuade: Who would you say is your biggest fan?

My family and my close friends

Persuade: What is your ultimate goal when it comes to your modeling career? 

To have the ability to do something I actually enjoy and become successful in all I do.

Persuade: Tell us a little unknown fact about you? 

I love spending time with my daughter and riding the motorcycle.
