July Beauty of the Month- Danielle Ruiz
Danielle Ruiz…a Royal Flush!
Persuade Magazine had the chance to sit and talk with Danielle Ruiz, an LA based model and the “Royal Flush Girl” on the World Poker Tour. At such a young age, Ruiz has graced the pages of Maxim, as well as the cover of Elegant Model. She’s also appeared in scenes for shows such as CSI and Entourage. While being the fourth member of the Dime Squad…Danielle discusses how she’s balancing it all and what’s to come!
Persuade: With you being the host of the World Poker Tour, would it be safe to say that you are an avid poker player?
Ruiz: I went into this only knowing the basics of poker but I’ve had the chance to be taught by well respected poker players and WPT boot camps. So let’s just say I’m getting there!
Persuade: What sparked your interest in Poker and Skateboarding?
Ruiz: I looked at poker as a new opportunity to learn and be exposed to a completely different world. Poker is a very complex yet extremely fun atmosphere to be in. I learn something new every day in the poker world. As for skateboarding…what’s not to love? You have high energy all around you and dedicated skaters that have a passion for what they do… Never a dull moment!
Persuade: How did your modeling and hosting career take off?
Ruiz: I started interning in LA at a fashion showroom. I went there to get experience in fashion but the labels started to use me as a fit model. My first modeling gig was at PROJECT in Vegas when I was 17. After that, everything started to happen and fall into place…and still is.
Persuade: What exactly is the Dime Squad? I saw that it is a group you lead in the skateboarding realm? Please explain?
Ruiz: The Dime Squad consists of four girls, Jennifer, Gemma, Brooklyn and I am the newest addition as of this year. We travel with the Street League Skateboarding team that is sponsored by Monster Energy. At each skateboarding stop we interact with fans, take photos and make sure that everyone is having a good time! We’ll chat with skaters, do interviews and present the award with Rob Dydrek. It’s an extremely fun atmosphere and I’m blessed to be the newest addition.
Persuade: Are you looking into incorporating some acting along with your modeling career?
Ruiz: I will start to purse my acting career in the near future. I want to be 100% dedicated to put in my all… and right now, I don’t have the time. That is one of my passions and goals!
Persuade: Who do you look up to in the fashion and modeling industry?
Ruiz: Kate Moss. She is so iconic and has set a name for herself not only in the modeling industry but in the fashion industry as well…and she gives hope to all of us models under 5’9!
Ruiz: I’d like to keep building my name and working with amazing companies as I have been. No matter what, I’ll still be traveling the world and I hope to keep meeting amazing people. You never know who will cross your path along the way.
Persuade: What are some disadvantages that come with being in the modeling industry?
Ruiz: I always try and see the good in every situation and learn from anything that could be negative. If there is any disadvantage; one would be that people may expect you to be somewhat of a “perfect” person at times, whether it is physically or mentally.
Persuade: Is there any advice you would give to other women aspiring to follow in your same path?
Ruiz: Always to be yourself. Never change for anyone unless you feel it is right. If you follow your heart you will end up where you want to be.
Persuade: Where and when can fans and viewers catch you hosting the World Poker Tour, or anything else on television for that matter?
Ruiz: You can catch The Dime Squad during the 3rd Street League stop in Glendale, Arizona airing July 15 on ESPN 2 and the last stop of the season in Newark, NJ on Aug 26.
Persuade: Thank you so much for taking the time out to talk to Persuade Magazine, any final thoughts?
Ruiz: You can keep up with me via Twitter and Instagram: _DanielleRuiz and DanielleRuiz.com
Thank you so much for recognizing me and my talent!
