The Hottest Hair Trends during this time of year
This summer is heating up and so are the summer’s hair trends! Simple and chic is all I see. There’s no reason to have a crazy hairstyle that won’t hold up in the heat. The ponytail has been transformed, the braid has received an upgrade, and getting the big chop is in and taking a dip isn’t always in reference to going swimming.
Ombre Hair
With all the “dip dyed” clothes out there it was only a matter of time before the trend went to our heads, literally. Ombre style hair is fantastic for the summer! It screams beach, heat and fun. This is a perfect style for long and short hair. If you aren’t opposed to getting your hair dyed, this is something worth trying.
I recommend going to a professional stylist if you are unfamiliar with the hair dying process or if you don’t know how your hair might respond, but this look is easily achievable and highly suggested.
The High Bun
Add a few inches to your height and tie that hair up high! The high bun is so elegant. Not only is it simple and quick, it is suitable for any and ALL occasions. This is the time of year when events are happening outside, from weddings to barbecues and housewarmings to parties. If you have hair that doesn’t respond well to humidity and heat, this is the perfect style for you. Accomplish this hairstyle by neatly brushing your hair into a high ponytail. Wrap the additional hair around the base of the bun and pin what hair is left to hold it in place and you are done. You can garnish this style with a beautiful flower or a standout hair tie to add some flare.
Fishtail Braids
There’s something fishy going on around here and it’s your hair! Or it could be? The fishtail braid is one of the coolest and ultimate revamps of the traditional braid. Simply put, it looks like the tail of a fish. It has been seen on Rihanna and Kim Kardashian and fits classy and casual occasions. This style is ideal for those with medium to long hair. There are various tutorials on blogs and YouTube and it is so worth the few minutes it will take to look it up.
Pixie Cuts
The pixie cut or “Halle Berry” hairstyle is always a hit, not just in the summer but year round. There are so many stars that are ditching the extensions and long locks for a gorgeous, short haircut that not only accentuates your face, but has various edgy styles to try. How many times have you seen a woman in a movie reinvent herself by cutting her hair off? Short hair is easy to maintain and screams fun and fearless. If you are scared to cut your hair remember two things:
1) It’s hair and can always grow back
2) There are always good wigs or extensions
Loose Beach Waves
If you would like to let your hair hang free, the best way would be with loose beach waves. The difference between these and the more “prom style” ringlet curl is that these have more of a “not so put together” look. You can accomplish this look by parting your hair into one-inch sections and turning your curling iron on medium heat. Then, take the one-inch sections and wrap them in all different directions; wrap some loose and some tight. Once your entire head is curled, spray a light-hold hairspray to keep this summer look ready all day!
This is the best time of year to try something new with all the vacations, summer breaks and concerts. Most of all, it’s always the right time to refresh and restore. In the words of Lady Gaga, “I’m as free as my hair…” and you are! Try one of these lovely styles and be on trend this summer from root to tip!
